okay-- not quite "with Jillian Michael's" but she definitely made an appearance in my Christmas presents this morning! DH bought me her book Master Your Metabolism because
a) she is one of my fitness idols-- like seriously, i wish she was my friend;
b) a group that i'm involved with is running their very own "Biggest Loser" competition over the next few months and have invited me to be their trainer for the duration of the competition. i seriously lack the words to describe how excited i am about that one!
so today was an amazing christmas and of course i cannot wait to start reading! i even went to the gym today and sweated out a 45 min cardio session on the elliptical. yes... normally i use the treadmill and i firmly believe it is a much better workout for me, but i had to stay here at our little apartment complex (since, um its Christmas & the big gym is closed) and their treadmills are about as loud as a freakin' fighter jet engine!
DH also got me new (pink & black) weight-lifting gloves, some gorgeous jewelry and comfy pj pants from VS. all in all-- a very merry christmas!

A Fresh Start?
holy sheep! i had no idea that it'd been so long since i last posted. honestly, i've considered scrapping a lot of previous posts and might just do that. thank goodness an e-friend from a forum to which i belong reminded me update, otherwise i never would've come back.
so... where have i been and what have i been doing for the last six months? in a nutshell: struggling. friends, family, my body, my mind, my emotions, the sucky job market, etc.. etc... i fought myself more than anything. what can i say? i don't travel light-- and i dont have baggage. i have luggage. serious luggage. the good news is that in the last 6 months i've worked exceptionally hard to decrease my travel load and i am sooo ready for 2010. 2009 was not very kind to me and i'm absolutely 100% willing to move on to bigger and brighter possibilities.
one of the new things to come out of my 6 month hiatus, is that i joined a gym. working out at a military facility wasn't nearly as inspirational as i thought it would be. apparently the majority of people who work out there are people who are in physical training detention (not the official term) for having not or barely passed their last PFT/PRT (Phys Fitness/Readiness Test). or at least that's who's who in the gym when i'm there. i did find a shiny brand new gym about 15 minutes away with all sorts of classes and more cardio/weight equipment than any place else i've ever seen. i'm really enjoying the Les Mills classes they offer-- BodyPump, BodyAttack, BodyJam, BodyFlow, RPM (spin) et al... so far BodyPump & BodyAttack are my two favorites. and of course, i love shakin' my no-rhythm white ass to the tracks of Zumba. hey, no one said it had to be pretty-- it just needs to burn calories. and that is what i am doing.
current weight: 126 -- so odd, i'm 10 lbs heavier than my previous weight (where i was at in June) but the clothes i was wearing at 116 fit at my current 126. thank you weightlifting and lean muscle. more mass + less volume = smaller clothing sizes at heavier weights.
my goal weight remains in the same range tho-- i'd like to cut back down to that 116 area. 110 if i ever compete. but that's a whole 'nother story.
